Social Contribution Activities

Contributing through Collaboration with Customers

SMFL promotes pro bono activities. Through the use of certain working hours, we create opportunities for employees to address and participate in efforts aimed at resolving social issues. We engage in activities that help address social issues by leveraging our unique connections as a financial institution with customers in a wide range of industries.

Hosting a camping event for children through certified NPO Kidsdoor

Certified NPO Kidsdoor works toward creating a society where all children can have dreams and hopes by supporting the education of children from underprivileged families and providing food assistance to struggling households. SMFL has been supporting this NPO through the donation-type SDGs Lease MIRAI 2030®, where a portion of lease fees is donated to organizations contributing to the achievement of the SDGs. Recently, due to inflation, the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, there has been concerns surrounding the widening "experience gap" among children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds who have fewer opportunities to have enriching experiences. The camping event held in November 2023 aimed to address this gap by providing camping and nature-based learning experiences to children in a bid to close the experience gap.

POP-making workshop for children at Kidsdoor in collaboration with FamilyMart

In collaboration with FamilyMart Co., Ltd., we organized a workshop for children attending Kidsdoor's learning support center, with the aim of providing an opportunity for them to think about work and the future. By combining FamilyMart Co., Ltd.'s store management knowledge with the know-how from our "More Than Finance®" management support service, the children were able to experience creating point of purchase (POP) ads and learn how to work together as a team to achieve results.
The POP ads created by the children were displayed in stores and provided them with opportunities to experience actual work duties.
